Tone, Composition and
Visual Language:
The Art of Picture Making in Oils
Dates   Monday 10th - Friday 14th September 2012
Price    £665

Taking the versatile and mysterious medium of oil paint as its starting point, this course explores the possibilities of this deeply expressive medium within the fundamental elements of picture-making: tone, composition and visual language
.

Any good painting whatever its subject, requires a considered design, rendered in shapes that vary from light to dark, and whose surface celebrates the poetry of paint.

As relevant to beginners as it is to those who want to reconsider their painting practice, students will be encouraged to try out new drawing and painting techniques and discover how choices of design, colour, and the ways in which paint is applied, can communicate the intended mood or feeling of a painting.
